There has been no significant bank deregulation that contributed to the meltdown of the financial industries. You will find no evidence that this has actually happened, simply people blaming an entire industry on a lack of regulations when in reality, there is and never was any practical way to regulate it.

Bad monetary policy and a machine that allowed risk to be dumped to Fannie and Freddie (government firms) were in large part responsible for the freezing of credit markets that ground our economy to a halt last year. Blaming it entirely on the market is incorrect and fails to account for substantial other factors that played a large part, if not entirely creating the situation.

Obama's plan is a miserable failure for so may reasons that I can't even mention them here. But I encourage you to examine the evidence for yourself rather than simply going on your gut feeling after an empty presidential debate.

Its great to hear that during this tough times there are people coming up with good solutions like providing a free dental check up for kids. This would come in great help for many.

Hi Juanita,

Thank you for the information. I am not a dentist (yet) but I really understand your situation. The dental van that I mentioned only runs along the south western coast of US. I doubt they would come all the way to the other coast. But you can contact them to learn about mobile vans on the East Coast. I know of one that runs in NY by NYU college of dentistry. There might be others.

You might have already considered this but have you tried contacting local dental colleges there? Students (or even faculty) there might want to volunteer and help out at your community care clinic. They can send out emails to their students and make them aware of your situation. There is one dental college in North Carolina (University of North Carolina-- http://www.dent.unc.edu/) and there are others in the states around - South Carolina (Medical University of South Carolina), Virginia (West Virginia U, Uni of Virginia), Kentucky, Tennesse and Georgia. You can use this to find links to their websites -- http://www.dentalsite.com/dentists/densch.html

You can also try finding dentists in the area or spread the word on other dental blogs -- http://www.blogged.com/directory/health/dental

Good luck finding help. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

I am the Case Manager for a free clinic in Elizabeth City North Carolina (Community Care Clinic) in Pasquotank County. It is a area with high unemployment, migrant workers, illegal residents and most of all uninsured members of our community. I have exhausted my efforts to find dental services for our patients. Since you are an international service I was wondering if you would consider coming to our area. I will guarantee more than enough nurse volunteers to assist you in providing a free dental clinic in Pasquotank county. My heart goes out to patients that I see each week with dental disease, and loose teeth who can not eat well because of the mechanical effects of their disease. Our clinic is funded by grants and charitable donations. We fill the drug prescriptions and provide clinic visits for patients who meet our financial scale. You are my last hope.
Thanks.

Hi Sheila,

I absolutely agree - no liquor should be allowed when one is pregnant.

Hmm, that's interesting -- do you mean that your mothers' drank while they were carrying you or just in general, or do you think its hereditary? I don't know if alcohol addiction can be in your genes, but it could be - I have to look that up. If smoking addiction can be caused by our genes, there could be some alterations in genes that might cause addiction to alcohol too?!

We must somehow ensure that ALL pregnant ladies, DO NOT DRINK ANY LIQUOR !!!
My late husband & I both were hit in our mid 40's, with Grand-Mal Seizures from drinking for 25 yrs or so.
Each and every bit of Alcohol contains sufficient drug , to deal out what ever affliction it feels like.
Almost as if you've given your body over to Satan with each drop of liquor, then his MINION's are bored one day, and decide to wreak havoc & deal you a devastating HEALTH blow, 99% have NO cure either.
And it just stays for the rest of your life !!!
Both our biological mothers drank, therefore we may have picked up the nasty little habit easily!?!
No, please don't give your children something that YOU will deeply regret !!

Yup! The local govt. could start off by doing few food fair events on their account and then try to organise pot lucks where everyone gets something and shares the bill.

I like the idea of making it a family event. =)

That's nice. How did the events turn out?
